Strength TogetHER 26 - Session 5

22nd April, 2022 Strength TogetHER provided a safe space for girls to share personal stories and experience which brings change in attitudes and lives. They get to explore and express themselves which helps to unburden themselves and create meaning.  Girls discuss their issues and come up with solutions that group members can support each other with. They learn to speak up and share their stories to the group which is relatable to almost all girls. They are empowered by the story they share and learn new lessons after every session they attend.  With the support of the WOW team, British council we expanded our Strength TogetHER sessions in Karmahawa School, Lumbini with a group of 35 girls which was divided into groups of 13 and 22 girls from grade 11 and 12 respectively.   April 16, 2022 Strength TogetHER by Lokopakar provides a safe platform to young girls to share their personal stories and unburden themselves with the aim of eradicating the feeling of “I AM NOT ENOUGH” among them. Lokopakar has been providing Strength TogetHER sessions to young girls throughout Nepal. With the support of British Council Nepal, Strength TogetHER now has reached to Lumbini providing sessions to girls of Awadhi community from Shree Karmahawa Madhyamik Vidhyalaya. After two online sessions, we were finally able to meet our participants in person through WOW Festival 2022 at Lumbini Park. We were really excited to meet our participants on the clear sunny day at their native place. After the session with the first group and a few minutes for lunch, we were about to meet our second Group for the session. The second Group of students belonged to Grade 12. They get to explore and express themselves which helps to unburden themselves and create meaning.  On 13th April, we started our session on the topic “It doesn’t feel safe being a girl” which was moderated by Ms. Sadikshya Maharjan who is a free spirited person with her own insecurities and on a journey of self-acceptance.
